JP’s Lagos’ Snowcial Experience

This past snow season I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the 2010 Tahoe Snowcial, put on by Vail Resorts and One to One Interactive, at Heavenly Ski Resort/Harrahs/Harveys. If you are involved in the social media landscape in any form, this conference spanned far beyond the snowsports industry and provided incredible insight into current and future trends.

The Tahoe Snowcial offered a very unique blend of work and play that only Lake Tahoe could truly offer. Poker tournaments, several hours on the hill each day, group lunches and dinners, and a VIP concert by our keynote speaker MC Hammer were just a few of the activities we engaged in outside of the conference. Despite all of the fun we were having, by far the most valuable part of the Snowcial was the amount of information delivered by the speakers. Rob Sandie of Viddler.com shared his insights to online video platforms, Pete Blackshaw of Neilsen Media spoke of the importance and relevancy of Social Media and offered up some interesting statistics, and MC Hammer blew us all away with the amount of knowledge, experience, and understanding of the social media landscape.

6 months after the conference, I found myself regurgitating a few of the things I learned at the conference to a client of mine, and wanted to write to you and say thank you and I will definitely see you at the 2011 Tahoe Snowcial. I’ve had several colleagues ask about who’s speaking at the next conference and inform me that it is on their 100% to-do lists. Can’t wait to find out more about who’s presenting, and to see if Sonny can top the silk pajama’s he wore to the poker tournament. I’m bringing my evening’s best as well!
