What is Tahoe Snowcial?

We heard that question a lot over the last 4 days. Second only to “what kind of vodka would you like in your Red Bull?”

And while I heard the branded answer, “where technology, community and snow sports meet-up,” it is always followed up with a few sentences about what it means personally. Snowcial attendees this year were journalists, bloggers, community managers, VPs of marketing, VPs of sales, geeks, and athletes. Snowcial takes place in the overlap between us all.

The key theme this year was the unexpected

And we got a curve-ball from Mr. Stanley Kirk Burrell, AKA MC Hammer. As both his music career and the music industry have evolved, technology and social innovators have changed the way we consume and interact with music and musicians. Hammer told us that he and his peers faced a choice of fighting it or embracing it and, “I chose to roll with innovation,” he said.

We knew his concert would be awesome, and we were all blown away by his insight into marketing, branding and maintaining a community around a social brand. Hammer blew the doors off Snowcial 2010!
